About 'Writing Queer Short Stories'
A series of short courses spread out over the year that will focus on four aspects of the short story (Character, Setting, Language and Plot) through a decidedly Queer intersectional lens. Suitable for everyone at any stage of their writing journey, an intimate and intensive experience involving workshops, discussions,
writing exercises, submission opportunities, and a chance to share you work with others in a
safe and supportive environment. The series allows the freedom to pick and choose the three-week module that most speak to you, or plan your entire writing year and sign up to all four.
About This Module : Flesh and Bone and Britney Spears
There’s more to life than Elio Perlman. Join Jonathan Pizarro on this module and learn how
to create compelling characters from a Queer and intersectional point of view. Build them up
with wants, desires, flaws, and questionable taste in music. Give them life, then set them free
into your short stories to cause as much chaos or quiet introspection as they want.
A three-week course focusing on developing and writing characters in short stories.
- Suitable as a stand-alone or enhance your experience with other modules.
- Weekly two-hour sessions with a variety of approaches, including workshops,
discussions, writing prompts and exercises, submission opportunities, participant
readings, and a chance for peer feedback of your work in a safe and supportive
environment.
ATTENDEES WILL ALSO RECEIVE A 20% DISCOUNT VOUCHER TO THE NEXT SHORT STORY COURSE WHICH WILL RUN IN MAY 22 (available to book in February 2022).
Partial Bursaries for writers who would otherwise be unable to attend are available for this workshop. To enquire about a bursary please email Paul, his email address is contact@outonthepage.co.uk
