About the Course
Suitable for all levels of writer, especially those who are new to, or simply curious about, the erotica genre.
The course uses a variety of practices to explore your erotic imagination and help you to get confident with using your erotic voice on the page.
During the course we will explore:
- MOTIVATION: Why you want to write erotica/spicy scenes.
- INSPIRATION: How to get into the zone and discover your personal muse.
- PERMISSION: Writing without self-censorship, shame, embarrassment, or judgement.
- CONFIDENCE: What makes a good sex scene, how to leave self-doubt behind, and owning the title “erotic writer” (or other title of your choice).
Expect a variety of practices to help you tap into your erotic voice:
- Interactive lessons that cover the practicalities of writing: the language of erotica and how to tell a story that passes the “wet test”; honouring your creative ebbs and flows; and what you need to know if you are interested in getting your erotic writing published.
- Writing prompts to help get your creative juices flowing.
- Dedicated writing time in every session.
- Plus, other practices – such as guided visualisations – to help you inhabit your erotic self with confidence.
Anna is a trauma aware practitioner and works in the full understanding that the subject matter can be triggering. Anna will ask attendees to complete a short form at either registration or just before the course starts, to guide her planning of the sessions.
Testimonials
“…a great balance of teaching, sharing, and writing, and a beautifully open and unapologetic energy (given the subject matter we were discussing), infused with humour which I found really helped defuse any embarrassment.” Jennifer
“It helped solidify my identity as an erotic writer and normalize it in my life, which led me to write more than ever.” Britt Foster
“… an exquisite environment to step into erotic writing. A perfectly curated balance of Space - to feel encouraged to find what wants to be expressed, right now. Safety - Anna’s warm presence together with just the right amount of information, creative imagination and somatic practice + freedom to explore. Permission - for me, writing takes me into a liminal space. I am left after the close of this wonderful 6-week container with a feeling of setting off on a wild adventure” Kimaya
“I have written erotica for years yet never really called myself an erotic writer out of fear. So, thank you, Anna, for helping me own “erotic writer” and for giving us great writing prompts, erotic writing skills, and having a genuine desire to share yourself with your students. I highly recommend Writing Desires for writers of all levels - whether you’ve written erotica before or you are just curious.” Joy Moates
