Coming Out of the Bubble

It's been great seeing what's going on in our fledgeling Members' Forum. Writers have started exploring, seeing who else is around and what they're up to. Saying 'Hi' to the world and seeing who calls back.

And connections are happening, connections that might never have happened otherwise. An established performer/writer in Bristol has found support for writing pitches to the BBC from a writer in the North-West. Writer/editor members are starting to talk about what experience and tips they could share with other Forum Members in a live videoconference. Every day that passes, new connections are being made, questions are being asked, information, experience and skills are being shared, and given.

As a writer, witnessing this, being part of it, I feel the importance of this, for those times when I need others around my writing and my writing life, they are there.

supporting emerging LGBTQ+ writers
Out on the Page was set up in 2018 as an experimental project to bring together LGBTQ+ writers to write, support each other and to share information and experience.
Since then, we have held one-writing retreats, workshops, groups and cafe casual meetings across England.  We have also set up an online writer directory and forum for emerging LGBTQ+ writers.
We have received Arts Council England funding for 2020 to sustain and develop our much-needed work, including online events.
