Going Direct - Self-Publishing Now | Workshop | £25
Finished writing? Now what are you going to do about making it available to readers? Helen takes a 'live' example and guides you through the options and technicalities of self-publishing today. And if you're ready to publish or try a dummy run, you can do it during the worksop.

About the Event
About the Workshop
You COULD go the traditional route of finding an agent who then gets you a deal maybe with one of the big five or an exclusive small press; or, you can Self Publish. That used to effectively mean Amazon and not a hope of getting local bookshops to stock it — or finding a printer and hawking it around the stores yourself. Now there are other routes.
Using a 'live' example, we will talk you through the registration process for an e-book – then we'll take a one hour break in the Zoom session so you can register your own book before returning for a wrap up and question and answer session.
We'll also cover:
- Publishing as an e-book, paperback and hardback on Amazon
- Additional routes such as Draft to Digital and Ingram Sparks to spread your coverage through Apple Books, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, Scribd and others as well as into Distributors used by bookstores such as Gardeners.
- Obtaining ISBN numbers
- Money saving tips.
- Pricing your book to make it viable when selling to book stores and the discounts stores will expect
- Other potential pitfalls.
- Helpful Facebook groups that offer a wealth of information for budding self publishers
About Publishing or Doing a Dummy Run on the Day
We will send all participants (around the 1st February) a checklist covering the information they will need if they are going to do this on the day.
You will also need a cover (PDF) and a Manuscript (Docx).
Alternatively, you might do a ‘dummy run’ on the day as you can either modify most of the details or start again from
scratch and not actually publish the dummy book.
After The Workshop
Helen is open to be commissioned by indiviudals or small groups to work through projects and bring them to self-publiocation.
